Kohli should let his bat do the talking than his mouth
Virat Kohli scored a good century in the first innings against Australia in the fourth Test match at Adelaide. He was involved in wild celebrations, which Sunil Gavaskar claims to be that of a school kid temperament.
AFTER VIRAT Kohli scored his century against Australia in the fourth Test at Adelaide, he was seen jumping up in the air, and the celebrations looked a little wild, for some experts. But it is not surprising for anyone who has been following Virat Kohli’s progress in the last year or so to witness this ouburst. He is very aggressive in his approach irrespective of the opposition. Gavaskar does not approve of the celebration, as he swore at the Australian players after his magnificent ton. He claims that it was school kid temperament, reported NDTV.
We should also see the positive side of the celebrations, as it must have been an act of frustration, as to the performance he has showcased, which has been below par, during the series. There were lots of emotions during his celebrations, which showed what the century meant for him. His ton and his celebrations were the answer to many critics, who wanted him to be axed from the starting 11. May be this century will bring the much needed confidence for the upcoming ODI series.
Gavaskar also should understand that Kohli is not the player of the 90s where they would not use their vocal cords, when they were provoked. Players such as Laxman, Dravid, and Sachin very rarely hit back at anyone through their words. But gone is that age when we would find Indians being quiet on the field. Players of the current generation such as Kohli, Sreesanth, Gambhir, Ishant, and Pathan give a mouthful, if they are sledged. Sometimes, there has to be a line drawn for cricketers too, but controlled aggression is not bad.
Kohli has had some disciplinary problems in the short span of his cricketing career. The recent controversy that made the news was the middle finger sign that he showed to the SCG crowd, which brought him into bad light. Virat has a great future ahead of him, but he needs to be careful about it, as things like these may make him for a potential hero to a zero. He needs to draw the line and things would fall acordingly for him. We do not want another Andrew Symonds for India.
