IN THE Indian Premier League 2011 Eliminator at the Wankhede stadium on Wednesday, May 25, the Sachin Tendulkar-led Mumbai Indians will take on the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders. The team that will lose in the Eliminator, its road will end in the tournament, and it will also not qualify for the Champions League, which will take place in September-October in Australia.

In the last league match of the IPL 2011 on Sunday, on May 22, between the teams of the "east and west" at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Mumbai Indians won by five wickets in a last-ball thriller. Mumbai the runners-up of the IPL 2010, has won nine games and lost five in the 14 league matches of the IPL 2011. The team finished third in the points table due to the poorer net run rate than Chennai Super Kings.

Kolkata Knight Riders was the only team among the top four teams that was not in the semifinal of the IPL 2010. Meanwhile, Kolkata has reached the final stage for the very first time in the history of the IPL. During the league stages Kolkata won eight matches and lost six.

In the list of the top 10 leading run getters in the IPL 2011, Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar and Kolkata Knight Riders veteran Jacques Kallis are placed at fourth and ninth position with 477 runs and 417 runs respectively in 14 games.

Among the list of leading wicket takers in the IPL 2011, Mumbai Indians fast bowler Lasith Malinga is far ahead from his nearest competitor. Malinga has taken 27 wickets from 14 matches, and is eight wickets ahead of the second leading wicket taker Amit Mishra of Deccan Chargers.

Tonight, what will be decided is whether Kolkata will qualify for Champions League as well as the second qualifier of IPL 2011. The Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians Eliminator match will start from 8:00 pm tonight.
