IN AN important game for a reservation in the qualifier (last four) in the Indian Premier League 2011, apart from Chennai and Mumbai, two most deserving teams Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders, will play in the 58th game of the IPL at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, this evening.

The Daniel Vettori-led Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders have 15 and 14 points from 11 games each. Bangalore team is standing at the third place, whereas Kolkata is at the fourth place in the points table. After today's match, both teams will have to play two more matches.

The last time both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders played against each other was in the 24th game of the IPL 2011 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, where Royal Challengers Bangalore won by nine wickets with the help of an unbeaten 102 runs by opener Chris Gayle.

In today's match, the biggest tension for Knight Riders is to stop 'tsunami Gayle.' In the ongoing tournament Royal Challengers has won six matches in a row, since Chris Gayle joined the team. He has taken to task every bowler he has faced ruthlessly.

In six matches Chris Gayle has scored 398 runs with two hundreds. His strike rate is 195.09 at an average of almost 100. Royal Challengers opener Gayle has smashed 30 sixes so far in the tournament, which is the maximum in the ongoing IPL 2010.

Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir, who has been appointed Indian captain for the forthcoming West Indies tour for the T20 and ODIs formats, has shown great leadership skill in the tournament. The Knight Riders team will likely qualify for the last four for the very first time in the history of the tournament under his leadership.

Kolkata batsmen including captain Gautam Gambhir, Jacques Kallis and Manoj Tiwary, and are performing consistently for the team. Jacques Kallis and Gautam Gambhir have scored more than 300 runs so far in the tournament. Knight Riders young spinner Iqbal Abdulla has claimed 13 wickets so far in 11 matches with best figure of 3/24.
