Kolkata vs Pune IPL match 2011, Ganguly pitched against KKR
Kolkata Knight Riders has 14 points from 12 games in the IPL 2011 and the team is looking forward to secure its berth for the final stage play-offs, which are going to start from Tuesday, May 24.
KOLKATA'S OWN superstar, Sourav Ganguly will play for the first time against his home team Kolkata Knight Riders in the history of Indian Premier League, as well as any domestic cricket. In the 65th match of the IPL, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will play for Pune Warriors at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

Former Indian southpaw Sourav Ganguly has played for his home side for the first three years in the IPL. Ganguly went unsold in the IPL's players auction held in January 2011 and in the middle of the IPL 2011, IPL debutant team Pune Warriors signed him for the remainder of the season as replacement for injured pacer Ashish Nehra.

In the Indian Premier League 2011, Pune Warriors is already out of the tournament with eight loses, including seven losses in a row in 12 games. In the points table, Pune is placed at the ninth position.

Kolkata Knight Riders, who has never reached the last four of the IPL tournament, is currently at the fourth place in the IPL points table with 14 points from 12 games so far. Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab has 14 points, but the team has played 13 games and its net run rate is poorer than Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Gautam Gambhir-led KKR team needs to win one of their two remaining games to be guaranteed a place in the play-offs for the very first time. The team has a number of match winners including captain Gambhir, experienced Jacques Kallis, hard hitter Yusuf Pathan, in-form Manoj Tiwary and speedster Brett Lee.

For the Pune team, except for captain Yuvraj Singh and spinner Rahul Sharma, no one has performed consistently in the on-going season of IPL 2011. However, the team has good names in the squad and are performers as well as match winners.

The 65th match of the IPL 2011 between Kolkata Knight Riders vs Pune Warriors will start at 8:00 pm tonight.
