Koshish: Transgenders targeted intervention in West Bengal
To build on its engagement with socially excluded populations, TATA Institute of Social Sciences started a Field Action Project named Koshish in 2006 where it committed itself for the protection of the rights of the one of the most vulnerable population i.e. Destitute and shelter-less people criminalized under Beggary Prevention Legislation.
It aims at addressing the interrelated issues of beggary, destitution and homelessness through a combination of measures, pitched at the varying levels of providing support for basic and immediate needs, facilitating linkages to gainful and secure employment and advocacy for integration into the larger society.

It also aims for the development of meaningful policy for securing rightful entitlements. Koshish is now running Transgender Targeted Intervention in West Bengal which is a only Project on Transgenders in Eastern India too. They are taking opportunity for run and going to the Chief Minister of Bengal to request her to talk about Section 377 and also will request her to think about Transgender Welfare Board in West Bengal.

They will give her one letter along with the their needs. At the same time Koshish is also organizing one gathering and then Rally along with their Associate partner which is Association of Transgender and Hijra in Bengal (ATHB) on December 21, 2013. They are going to take permission and then after that they will let all know about the full status. Within one or two days they will give details soon once they get permission.
