KPS Gill blames hockey authority for misusing World Cup funds
Former president of the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), and now an IHF advisor, KPS Gill has said the fees charged by FIH for hosting the Hockey World Cup 2010 at New Delhi from India was Rs 5 crore more than the original deal.
KPS GILL, the former president of the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), and now an IHF advisor, on Wednesday accused Hockey India, International Hockey Federation (FIH), Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the sports ministry of misusing funds during the Hero Honda World Cup Hockey 2010 held in New Delhi.

KPS Gill said that the Indian Hockey Federation had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Hockey Federation (FIH) during his tenure as IHF President for the hosting of the World Cup hockey 2010, and the capitation fees was agreed on Rs. 2.5 crore. He also added the total budget of the World Cup Hockey was Rs. 4.5 crore including the capitation fees and other expenses.

Gill also said that the Hockey India's secretary General Narinder Batra revealed at a meeting on March 1 in Delhi that the amount was Rs 7.5 crore in the presence of sports ministry officials. Gill said, Batra also revealed that neither Hockey India nor the Indian Olympic Association had conducted the World Cup.

Former Punjab Police chief and the top hockey administrator KPS Gill also added that he would file an FIR to find out that how Rs. 7.5 crore went out of the country by which route, through the RBI route or the Hawala route.

He also said that under RTI Act he could not get any information about the World Cup, and only Batra revealed the amount paid to FIH when asked at the joint meeting of the IHF, HI and sports ministry in March.
