Krishna Janmashtami festivities begin at famous Govind Dev ji temple in Jaipur
Celebrations of Krishna Janmashtami have begun at the famous temple of Govind Dev ji in Jaipur which shall conclude on August 14 to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna.

On August 9, the peacock dance was performed. At this temple, the dance-drama events connected with Lord Krishna are staged.

Dance-drama enactments of the life of Krishna such as Rasa Lila, Indian classical dances, devotional singing and night vigils are part of the celebrations at Govind Dev ji temple as per the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism. 

On Janmashtami, idols of Radha Govind ji are placed in a specially decorated swing and the temple is exploding with colours, singing and dancing. A grand Aarti and ceremonies of Janmashtami celebrations at the Govind Dev ji temple in Jaipur attract a lot of devotees from all over Rajasthan.

Thousands of worshipers will now multitude the temple and celebrate the festival with an outpour of ecstatic music, dance and poetry in both classical and common languages amid the tranquil sounds of temple bells.

At this temple, Krishna Janmashtami is followed by the festival Nandotsav, which celebrates the occasion when Nanda Baba distributed gifts to the community in honour of the birth of Krishna.

Janmashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu, which is observed on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Bhadrapada.

Thousands of devotees and worshipers have started arriving in Jaipur to celebrate the festival with rendering of ecstatic music, dance and poetry in both classical and folk traditions amid the rhythmic sounds of the famous temple bells.
