Kunal Nayyar, a Delhi boy left India at the age of 18 to do his graduation in marketing in US, but becoming an actor in Hollywood was in his fate. He now features in the popular American TV show The Big Bang Theory as Rajesh Koothrappali. "It is interesting to play Rajesh as I see him not as a character but as a person trying to fit in America," Kunal said

When asked about his role in the show Kunal said, " there are lots of similarities between him and his character in The Big Bang Theory."

"I also have a lot of nerdy elements in me and at the same time I act as a geek like him. I love playing video games and just like him I also like a lot of epic stuff. "

While pursuing his graduation at the University of Portland, Oregon, Kunal had taken up acting classes. " always wanted to act, but finding the right platform in India was difficult. But had noticed that it was easy in US, with lots of opportunity for people interested in acting and that’s how got my diploma in acting," says Kunal.

Besides acting, Kunal also enjoys direction and writing. He teamed up with fellow Indian, Oroon Das to write a critically acclaimed play Cotton County, which was recently staged in the Capital.

When asked about acting in Bollywood, he said, "for now, have no such plans, but down the line, say in next five to six years, may and am looking forward to it." However, my schedules with the present work will also be a factor for me to act in Bollywood.
