A special meeting convened by the Kurukshetra administration in the conference hall of mini secretariat commenced with the presentation by the district administration on the issues to be taken to make Kurukshetra a popular destination. A new website www.kurukshetra.nic.in was also launched on this occasion which would link all the historical, mythological and religious spots around Kurukshetra with the website in the first phase and them dharamshalas, hotels and eating points for the convenience of pilgrims and tourists aspiring to visit the city.
IT WAS a four-hour long mind boggling exercise by the district administration with the representatives of socio-religious organisations, elected local bodies, hoteliers, tour operators, officials of Haryana Tourism and Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) and chairpersons of departments of History, Tourism and Mass Communications which initiated the first step towards the measures to be taken in phased manner to popularise the holy city of Kurukshetra.

Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Mandeep Singh Brar said, “Very soon a meeting of the Delhi-based tour operator associations will be convened to chalk out means and ways to make Kurukshetra a popular destination on their itinerary for the Vaishno Devi shrine bound pilgrims as well as Chandigarh-Pinjore-Shimla bound tourists. A large number of issues of viabilities were discussed at length with their pros and cons in the meeting in which about 50 persons participated.
