Kurukshetra to host a seminar on integration of pedagogy and instructional technology of science teaching
A two-day seminar of science teachers of Haryana to discuss the issues of appropriate integration of pedagogy and instructional technology of science teaching is going to be held on May 10 and 11 at the Kurukshetra Institute of Technology and Management (KITM).

The aim of the seminar is to find a workable strategy to integrate educational technology with pedagogy of science instruction to enhance students' learning.

According to coordinator of the seminar, Dr. Des Raj Vij, former professor of physics, Kurukshetra University, a need was felt to make science teachers to think about how to transact science lessons in which technology enriches teaching rather than substitutes for it.

"It is incumbent upon science teachers to think carefully and systematically about how to make the most effective use of existing technologies without compromising with pedagogical principles," he informed telephonically.

Over hundred science teachers have already consented for the seminar for which there will be no registration fee. The seminar will also make recommendation for training of teachers in educational technology so that emergent area of digital learning could be relevantly integrated into classroom instruction, it was informed.

According the organizers of the seminar, the main characteristics of successful learning such as students gain and retain knowledge of the content of science curricula; develop critical thinking skills, and integrate knowledge within and across disciplines need to be promoted by new technologies.
