LA Pride Parade 2010- A parade to celebrate gay community
The parade holds its roots in the history. It was in 1970 when the parade first started in Hollywood. But in 1979, the parade moved to the West Hollywood. LA is the first city in the country to hold a gay pride parade.
THE 40TH annual LA Pride Parade 2010 will be attended by thousands of people in the West Hollywood on Sunday. The parade will begin at around 11 AM. The grand marshals of this year are Sharon and Kelly Osbourne.
 
The parade is observed to celebrate the LA’s gay, transgender, bisexual and lesbian communites. There are more than 125 entries this year. Moment of silence will be observed for the one who fought for the gay rights and the one who died due to AIDS.
 
The parade holds its roots in the history. It was in 1970 when the parade first started in Hollywood. But in 1979, it moved to the West Hollywood. Los Angeles is the first city in the country to hold a gay pride parade.
 
The LA Pride festival will start from 11 AM and would end at 10 PM at San Vicente Boulevard, between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue. Santa Monica Boulevard has been closed since 6 AM and will be re-opened soon after the parade ends, which will be as late as 6 PM.
 
Visitor are advised to park their vehicles at the Pacific design center, West Hollywood’s Kings road parking structure and the Beverly Center.
