THE HUNG Parliament of Australia has moved towards forming a government. Now, it has become clear that sitting Prime Minister Julia Gillard's center-left Labour Party will form the next government for a second three-year term.
Two independently elected representatives, Tony Windsor and Rob Oakeshott, have decided to join Julia Gillard's coalition to install a stable government.
As news surfaced about the alliance between Tony Windsor and Rob Oakeshott joining Gillard, Queensland Nationals Senator Ron Boswell said the Independents were never interested in joining the coalition's regional package. Boswell believes that the result was pre-ordained and the game was all 'sewn up'. He further added that Windsor was crushed by Nationals in various pre-selections and Oakeshott would have always been with the Labor party.
Looking at the benefits that both urban and rural Australia will get out from the package, Senator Boswell said that the coalition government offered a 'generous package'.
With this development, Gillard's party has control over 76 seats in the 150-seat House of Representatives.Abbott's coalition headed by Liberal Party had won 73 seats and another independent had joined it.During intense negotiations of about one month with the independents, now a minority government will be formed in Australia to set aside the call for an early election.
