Lack of society's responsibility costs many lives in India: Nirbhaya's life is a lesson
Though we are lagging behind in literacy the Indian people are very responsible. But in the recent days that responsibility is rarely seen. The main hurdle for the people's unwillingness to help people in distress is police harassment. What the police want is to avoid registering a case.

IF A case was registered it involves investigation and other aspects. Delay in action of police takes away many lives. The horrifying facts of Delhi gang-rape incident are indeed dreadful, and which were disclosed by the boy friend of the victim, who stunned the whole nation.

The ruthlessness and nasty mentality of the Police, unkindly took away the life of victim. The society also lacked the responsibility as no one paid the attention to them in that ghastly situation. The people of this country are to be more responsible and should be kind enough to the problems which are commonly faced by the society.

In fact, most of the people are kind enough to assist the victims of various accidents or incidents, which occur on the public road but they fear of Police. In the name of interrogation the police questions will torture the people who wanted to perform their responsibility helping the people in trouble, situations of like these.

The information which was given by the victim’s friend through an interview to Zee Channel is very pathetic to read as the society and police behaved inhumanly. Hundreds of people passed by the victims had not given them any help or relief. They just saw the situation and went away.

The pitiless society’s behavior humiliated the same society with their poor responsibility. The notable thing is people who came to them, been asked to help but no one could come forward. The victims were laid on the road with bleeding injuries and no clothes on the body for forty minutes. Another irresponsible thing is police did not shift the victim to a nearby hospital instead of far away Safdarjung. The observation of the interviewee might be correct if the victim had been taken the victim to a nearby hospital she would have been alive.

Much more interesting thing is behavior of Police. Even though three Police vehicles were arrived to the spot where they laid on the road did not act properly. The police argument of jurisdiction was another flaw which clearly shown their intention of avoiding the responsibility. Any Police station is power enough to register the case and later it is the duty of them to hand over the concerned police station. But in the case of ‘Nirbhya’, the action of police was unpardonable and they need punishment of Government. Regarding this the Police Commissioner of Delhi should go by Police rule book and issue the orders of departmental action who did not follow the rules.

Generally, in Police Commissionrates many police stations are established to tackle the law and order situation and hence police personnel are doing rounds the city to monitor the situation throughout twenty four hours. Anybody can inform to the Police control room of any incident fall under of law and order and it is duty of the control room police to visit the incident first and inform to concerned jurisdiction Station House officer.

Regarding to the shifting of victim to Singapore the couurageous observation of the victim’s boy friend might be totally correct. Not only he, everyone on that day felt the continuous protests fearing the Government, and to tone down them government had moved her out of the country in the name of better treatment. Government might know well that she could hardly alive even though she shifted to Singapore.

Regarding to revealing the facts by her boy friend, through an interview to a TV channel the Delhi Police reaction of registering a case against the TV Channel is not looking good. Even the Union Minister of State Mr. Tharoor is questioned that  what was wrong if her name is disclosed.

To pacify the youth and in a false intention of getting some political mileage the Central Government has focussed to the nation that the new law which they want to preapare be named after her (victim) if the family is accepted. In this also the view of boy friend is right that what happens if her name was tagged for that act. Already, the country has enough laws to punish the convict. If society feels responsibility many will alive in the happenings like these.
