The plot of the movie is built around a character Bhuvan, a fearless, disciplined and inspiring young lad. Leading Bollywood actor, Aamir Khan has essayed the role of Bhuvan. Fed up with the oppressive rule and illogical taxes, the peasants decided to raise their voice against the system. British officers came up with impractical conditions, play cricket match, defeat them and their taxes for three years will be waived.
Bhuvan takes up the challenge and he single handily prepares the team. Nobody was a cricketer, some never heard about this game. However, it was their will to defeat the opponent, come what may, wonderful planning and exceptional teamwork that took them to victory. Everybody in Bhuvan’s team played as planned though they were rookies. In the end, their taxes were waived. The result completely changed the destiny of their village.
It was exceptional leadership of Bhuvan and dedication of other team players, which was responsible for the amazing turnaround. The team comprising carpenter, Bhuvan (Aamir Khan), poultry farmer, Bhura (Raghuvir Yadav), potter, Ismail (Raj Zutshi), sepoy, Deva (Pradeep Rawat), blacksmith (Akhilendra Mishra), woodcutter (Yashpal Sharma) and other struggling peasants did what was nearly impossible.
