'Lala Lajpat Rai fought against injustice with fearlessness and impeccable integrity'
In many cities of the North India; especially in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh; the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, was observed yesterday.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi paid tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai and stated, "Tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary. He was respected for his fearlessness, impeccable integrity and fight against injustice."

Lala Lajpat, born on January 28, 1865 to Munshi Radha Krishna Azad and Gulab Devi at Dhudike village in Ferozepur district,  opposed the British Raj and organized the civil disobedience movements in the then Punjab and  fought for attaining independence for the nation.

He was also instrumental in establishing schools based on Indian culture.  He wrote a few books also, such as "The United States of America: A Hindu's impressions and a study", "History of the Arya Samaj, Swaraj and social change", "England's Debt to India: India", "The Problems Of National Education In India", etc.

It was on October 30, 1928 to boycott the arrival of the members of the Simon Commission in Lahore which led to a 'lathi-charge' and the police  hit him on the chest ruthelessly. He received severe injuries which led to his death.
