WITH A view to ease traffic congestion in the Jammu city, the Minister for R&B, G.M.Saroori on Thursday instructed Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, to speed up land acquisition process required for widening of Gujjar Nagar, Prem Nagar and Satwari-Airport roads.
Speaking at an officers meeting, convened here today to review the status of land acquisition and compensation cases required for widening and construction of several road projects in Jammu and Kishtwar districts, the Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar to settle all land compensation cases within one month so that work on Kishtwar- Sinthantop road is taken up at an earliest.
He asked Chief Engineer, BRO, to remain in touch with the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar and resume the work on the project which has been stopped due to pending land acquisition. He asked both the Deputy Commissioners to personally monitor the progress of the cases,The Minister said that traffic congestion has become a challenging problem in the Jammu city and called upon the engineers and officers of the revenue department to speed up the land acquisition process, required for widening of Gujjar Nagar, Prem Nagar and Satwari- Airport roads. He impressed upon the concerned to work in close coordination so that all the pending land acquisition cases are settled in shortest possible time.
Saroori asked Deputy Commissioner, Jammu to ensure acquisition of land required for widening of Gujjar Nagar road within a week, and fixed 15 days time frame for land acquisition for Prem Nagar –DPS and Satwari-Airport roads.Saroori said that the Government has taken several steps for beautification of the Jammu city as it has become the main transit place for pilgrims visiting the State. He said though most of the roads have been macadamized in the Jammu city, the work on remaining roads would be resumed soon after mercury level increases
