Lashkar behind Mumbai attacks: Intelligence sleuths
According to the sources, the terror attacks in Mumbai were carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba, in order to scuttle the peace talks between India and Pakistan, as the newly elected government in that country has shown interest in pursuing genuine peace
EVEN AS little known Deccan Mujahideen has taken responsibility for Wednesday night’s terror attack in Mumbai, intelligence agencies have no doubt that the entire operation was planned and executed by Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Ten suspected terrorists sneaked into Mumbai
through the sea route, intelligence sources said that they came from Karachi via Gujarat
with the help of underworld dons based in Mumbai and Karachi. The terrorists came to Mumbai using speed boats and when they reached the port city, they used rafts to enter Mumbai.
The aim of the attack is to scuttle the peace talks between India
and Pakistan, as the newly elected government in that country has shown interest in pursuing genuine peace.
The terrorists parted into small groups in southern Mumbai and went on to attack several posh addresses and key installations in the city that included hotels, hospitals and railway station. The intruders were carrying huge amount of arms and ammunition and they used the same with deadly effect.
A terrorist arrested by the security forces has spilled out the beans on the entire modus operandi of the operation, which saw almost 100 people dead and over 900 injured in a 12 hour battle, which is still continuing.
The intelligence sources have also said that there is no group called Deccan Mujahideen and the name is being used to misguide the investigators.
