Late night storm in Bihar kills 32, injures 80
A late night heavy storm in Bihar has killed 32 people and injured more than 80 while destroying thousands of huts and standing crops. Purnea, Madhepura and Madhubani are the three districts which are worst affected by the storm on Tuesday night.
The state government has assured all help to the affected people and has also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the victims.

The areas which have been affected by the storm are near the river Kosi, and such natural disasters are common in those areas. But the storm on Tuesday night has caused immense damage.

The mobile and transport services are also hit. As many as 10,000 houses were ravaged in the storm and many trees also fell. The locals are helping the administration in removing the trees which are blocking the way.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Director in Patna, R K Giri said the storm packed wind speed around 65 km per hour. He also said that the storm descended from Nepal side hitting Purnia, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga and went deep inside the state up to Bhagalpur. Such kind of storms are called 'Kal Baisakhi' or 'nor'westers'.
