I am an Indian and a human being first, neither Hindu nor Muslim. Whatever this so called patron of Muslims, Hyderabad-based Akbaruddin Owaisi has spewed against Hindu religion on December 23, 2012 while addressing a rally is highly inflammatory, objectionable and condemnable. His hate speech is certainly against the ethics of Indian constitution and secular ambiance. The speech has created a hue and cry across the board whether it is social media like Facebook and Twitter or mainstream media like news channels and newspapers.
Having said that I am not here to defend Akbaruddin for his highly objectionable rant against Hindus but I want to set records straight. I am neither a Hindu nor a Muslim; I am an Indian and a human being first. His speech has wrecked havoc on millions of Hindus, saw one post yesterday on Facebook, angry Hindus were spewing venom against MIM and Owaisi and Muslims in retaliation. How can so called custodians of Hindu culture undermine the rant and venom incessantly spewed by certain leaders of RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena.
With all due respect to Hindus and their rich heritage, may I ask all of you, have you ever imagined how Muslims feel hearing hate and inflammatory speeches against their faith? Sharing few instances:
Dr Pravin Togadia, secretary general of VHP said in Nov 2011 in Ahmadabad: “Capture the Islamic and Christian holy places in Arab and Vatican. Who were Muslims 1400 years ago?”
Babu Bajrangi, a leader from Bajrang Dal said in 2007: “I felt like Maharana Pratap after massacring Muslims in 2002. I wouldn’t spare Muslims.”
Varun Gandhi, BJP leader in 2009 said: “I swore in the name of Gita, I will cut the hand raised on Hindus.” Uma Bharti said many a time on Babri mosque demolition; she takes pride in being associated with the Ram Janambhoomi movement to build Ram Temple at Ayodhya where Babri Masjid existed.
Bal Thakre, Shive Sena founder said: “Islamic terrorism is growing and Hindu terrorism is the only way to counter it. We need suicide-bomb squads to protect India and Hindus,” as per The Times of India.
These Hindu radical elements are also responsible for hurting the sentiments of Muslims. We can’t bracket all Muslims under the same umbrella for the deeds of certain radical Muslims. There are also Muslims like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan whose pertinent role in shaping modern India can’t be undermined. There are millions of Muslims like them who believe in the secular fabric of India.
If law and order establishments of our country are charging Akabaruddin then don’t spare these Hindu fanatics like Uma Bharti and Togadia too.
Friends, let’s not swayed by the sermons of certain Hindu and Muslim fanatics…be an Indian first…snub these fanatics.
