Just a simple rule of give and take. Depending on what we sow - we will get results, good or bad, depending on our action. When we plant a seed, we cannot expect it to grow in a day or a week or a month! For it to bear fruit may take years and so is the case with our karma and deeds.
BEING MINDFUL of our actions is the first step towards being happy. This is a never-ending process, a viscous cycle. To attain maximum benefit in this lifetime and to ensure a better future, we need to be careful about our laws that govern the universe. Our sufferings: pain, sorrow, depression, uneasiness, jealousy or any negative feelings are a result of our deeds, so we face problems in order to pay off our karmic debt.
This ‘pay back’ time doesn’t have tobe the same for all individuals and may take years to come into existence.
We humans make our rules and regulations that we expect others to follow and then change them according to our own convenience. But the law of the universe is governed by one force and is unchangeable.
The karmic law of ‘what goes around comes around’ also relates to the scientific equation of ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’.
In order to understand what it feels like to be on a mountain peak, we have to make an effort to climb the steep hill and go against gravity even though it would be easier to climb down from the same slope.
Likewise, if we have to enjoy complete happiness and joy we will have to go against the basic human nature that harbours hatred, jealousy, anger revenge, fear and other negative emotions. This is like swimming against the tide, but it is required to stay afloat in our karmic life. It is easy to let go of ourselves and let the waters take us into deep sea but that will not prove fruitful in a longer run. Our irresponsible behaviour of not knowing where we are heading creates disharmony within and around us.
Balance and harmony
The law that dictates our life pushes us to move ahead in a positive way. It is we who choose to go on the negative path. Every path has its pitfalls but eventually it is in our hands as to how we overcome these hurdles to polish ourselves. A diamond can cut glass which shows that we need to be stronger than our opponent and be a leader. In this case the opponent is our self-doubt, anger, hatred, and jealousy, etc.
We have to increase our positive emotions and fight the negatives. The law also states that if there is a good then there is definitely an evil. All aspects of nature are balanced equally. To realise that evil should be used to fight evil and not harm the weak is imperative. The law gives us freewill to make a choice regarding the action and the path we have to take.
We cannot turn back the hands of time, but in order to live a harmonious life, we can watch our actions from now on and know that "what we sow is what we reap".
