A lawsuit has been filed by Gremach against Google India for hosting a series of articles on its blogging site, which has been campaigning against the company's mines in Mozambique. Google has been asked to furnish information about the blogger
THE HIGH Court has asked Google India to provide details about a blogger. Google India is facing defamation charges from a Mumbai based firm, Gremach Infrastructure Equipments & Projects.
A lawsuit has been filed by Gremach Infrastructure against Google India for hosting a series of articles on its blogging site, which has been campaigning against the company’s mines in Mozambique. In a interim order, Google India has been asked to furnish all the information about the blogger. Gremach said that a number of articles titled, “Toxic Write” were posted on Google’s blogging site between January and February. The articles were directed to a hate campaign against the company.
Gremach sought help from the Mumbai Police’s Cyber Crime Cell as they suspect corporate rivalry behind the hate campaign. The investigations by the local police hit a dead end as Google India refused to cooperate in the investigations. With no option left Gremach, moved the Bombay High Court against Google India, asking for information about the blogger. It is believed that the case’s outcome will have far reaching implications as far as the development of cyber laws is concerned in India. This case is very important as far as blogging is concerned. In another development, the Supreme Court has also issued notice to Google, Microsoft and Yahoo for displaying sex determination ads on their website.
.We are not in a different world when we blog. When every internet identification case is passed through a court, we should be ok. In this case google is good. It will give all i mean *all* information on the blogger including if he posted blogs from work, home, is he a former employee, or someone from competing company etc etc. Good going google...
.Bloggers need to be careful. In the recent past, people have been jailed for posting comments, their views, messages etc. on networking sites. It is a direct attack on bloggers.
