IN AN up and down situation on the final day of the first Cricket test match between India and Australia in Mohali, Team India won the match by one wicket. On the fifth day of the match, V(ery) V(ery) S(pecial) Laxman and young Ishant Sharma clinched the victory from the jaws of defeat against Australia. Laxman was unbeaten at 73 runs.
Once India were 124 for the loss of eight wickets and they were in need of another 92 runs to win. From that point of the match, Ishant Sharma supported brilliantly his senior partner VVS Laxman and was forced to make an early departure when the team was just 11 runs short of victory. He was given LBW on the bowling of Hilfenhaus for 31 runs. The action replay telecast contradicted the umpire's decision. Finally, Pragyan Ojha and Laxman added required runs to celebrate the day.
Team India maintained the winning streak under MSD's captaincy. So far, Team India under MSD has not yet lost even a single test against the team from Down Under.
Earlier, overnight batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan started their inning from 55 for four on the fifth day morning. First Zaheer left the crease at 76 runs. At the score of 119 runs, Sachin gave a catch to Mike Hussey on the attack of Bollinger. He was out for 38 runs.
Team India now lead by 1-0 against Australia in the Gavaskar-Border trophy 2010. Second and final test between two countries will start from October 9 in Bengaluru.
It was an incredible match.....hats off to ishant n laxman....but the turning point in the match was the umpiring follies....first ishant was wrongly adjudged LBW..n then ojha was clearly out LBW but not given....so billy,,,,thanks
