Leander keeping Indian flag waving at the US Open
Tonight, Leander Paes and Cara Black will vie for mixed doubles championship against Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott of US. If Leander wins, it will be the 10th Grand Slam of his career spanning more than 15 years.
INDIA'S LAWN tennis sensation Leander Paes who is known across the world for his fighting spirit has reached the finale of the prestigious US Open Grand Slam Championship. Playing with his usual passion, Leander partnering Lukas Dlouhy defeated top rank Bob and Mike Bryan 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 to reach the finale of the US Open.

Leander and his partner Dlouhy will meet the pair of Mahesh Bhupati and Mark Knowles in the grand finale wherein Leander will fight it out for the coveted crown with his former double’s partner and fellow Indian Mahesh Bhupati. We would like to share with readers that before parting some years back, Leander and Mahesh were the top rank double’s players who went to win many coveted championship including three Grand Slam crowns together- two French Open (1999 and  2001) and one prestigious Wimbledon (1999).  Now they are like friends turned foes who are competing with each other to prove their supremacy.

Leander has also reached the finale of the mixed doubles partnering Cara Black of Zimbabwe. Last year also he reached the finale in two events, mixed doubles and doubles men but lost the doubles men finale. Let's hope he will break the unfortunate jinx this year. But interestingly, whoever wins the men’s doubles finale- it will be advantage India.

Tonight, partnering Cara Black he will vie for mixed doubles championship against Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott of America. If Leander wins it will be his 10th Grand Slam in his career spanning more than 15 years. Leander’s spirit is really unbelievable, Hats off to you Leander.
