Leander Paes is the lone Indian survivor at Wimbledon

Leander Paes is the last Indian to survive the ongoing Wimbledon championship, as other Indian players have already exited from the prestigious tournament. He has reached the semis of the competition along with her partner, Elena Vesnina.

IT HAS been a disappointing Wimbledon for Indians who were in the competition such as Sania Mirza, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna. They have been ousted from the competition in whatever event they participated in the tournament. Only Leander has been keeping the Indian flag sailing high, as he has reached the semis of the Mixed Doubles championship, where he is partnering Elena Vesnina.

The Indo-Russian pairing defeated Paul Hanley Alla and Kudryavtseva in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-2, reported The Times Of India, to reach the semis of the competition. They put up an amazing display of tennis, with Leander Peas, as usual, was full of energy with his game showcasing his exquisite volleys near the net. But this pair has a great task at hand, as they would face the top seeds of the competition, Bob Bryan and Liezel Huber from the US.

Both the men involved in the match have earned a name in the field of not only men's doubles but also mixed doubles. Leander has won 6 Grand Slam mixed doubles title, whereas Bob has won 7 titles. Hence, it is the men who would be playing a major role during the game in order to help their team reach the finals of the championship.

Leander did not have a good run up to Wimbledon due to some off-field problems even before it got started, where he was disturbed after being snubbed by his fellow countrymen to partner him during the Olympics. A victory in the ongoing championship would help him when he partners Sania Mirza during the Olympics for India, as his confidence level would be high.
