Leander Paes to play Phoolan's killer in End of Bandit Queen
Indian tennis ace is finally coming to Bollywood, and how? He is said to play the role of slain dacoit turned politician Phoolan Devi's killer, Sher Singh Rana. The script has been written by Rana and shows Rana as a patriot.
TENNIS STAR Leander paes will star in a movie whose script has been written by Sher Singh Rana, who hit the headlines by assassinating dacoit turned politician, Phoolan Devi. The movie is based on the life of Rana, and the script has portrayed him as a patriot. Though Leander has not signed on the dotted line yet, his manager Siddharth Chandra has confirmed his commitment for doing the film. According to Jagbir Singh Walia, Leander is interested in playing Rana’s role and had met Rana in Patiala House Court in Delhi few days back.
According to the producer of End of Bandit Queen, Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen had not justified some facts about Phoolan Devi, which his movie The End Of Bandit Queen will have. He further explained that Leander thinks Rana as a patriot and that’s why he is interested in playing his role.
Rana is currently in Tihar jail and is serving two charges against him. One of the jail terms apart from assassinating Phoolan Devi also includes his attempt to run away from jail, which happened in 2004.
He had also travelled to Afghanistan on a fake passport. He travelled to the country in the name of Shahnawaz Khan, and allegedly went to the tomb of Kshatriya king, Prithiviraj Chauhan in Ghazni, and smuggled his remains to India when Afghanistan was completely ruled by the Taliban.
