Leander wins Chennai Open Doubles title with Janko Tipsarevic
Leander Paes has won the Chennai Open doubles second time in a row. Last year he did it with Mahesh Bhupathi but this time he won it with another partner, Janko Tipsarevic in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-4.

CHENNAI OPEN was the first major tournament for Leander Paes after the Indian Express of Paes and Bhupathi decided to split and partner some other players from the circuit. Hence, Paes had partnered Janko Tipsarevic and Bhupathi had chosen another Indian, Bopanna as his partner. It was the Indo Serbian pair that came out smiling as they won the championship at SDAT Stadium, defeating Israeli pair of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram, in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-4, reported The Times of India.

The match lasted for 1 hour and 13 minutes, where Leander showed his class in front of the Indian crowd, who were supporting him till the end. Leander’s agility on the court is one of the best in the ATP circuit, as witnessed during the finals. There was a good understanding between the two players on the court. Last year too, Leander won the same title, but he had won it with Bhupathi.

From the game, one also has to praise the fitness levels of Janko Tipsarevic, as he had to play the doubles final immediately after his singles final, which he lost. It was not an easy task to play some gruelling back to back Tennis match, that too, finals. But, still, he had some gas remaining in the tank and played well alongside Paes who was always pushing him to deliver his best.

With some major tournaments coming up, it is very important that Leander keeps his fitness level at its optimum. There is one question in everyone’s mind, who will Leander partner with for the London Olympics, 2012?
