Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, who created a niche for himself in the music industry is said to be recovering from a breathing problem he developed on Friday. A team of seven doctors is monitoring his condition, and he's likely to be discharged soon.
THE CONDITION of well-known singer, music director Dr. Bhupen Hazarika is stated to be improving. On Thursday evening, Dr. Hazarika was admitted to Guwahati based Hayat Hospital after he developed respiratory problems.
Officials at the hospital said that the legendary singer had suffered an acute left ventricular failure but has shown considerable improvement since Friday. They further added that his recovery has been satisfactory but the doctors who are watching over him are not taking any chances because his past medical records state that he is also a heart patient, apart from being a diabetic with high blood pressure. Dr. Hazarika is now taking food, and doctors are very much satisfied with the improvement.
News reports further stated that the Asom Ratna awardee is being kept in a different ward so as to avoid visitors. The hospital has deployed a team of seven cardiac specialists to monitor his condition since he complained of breathing problems and uneasiness during a program at Srimata Sankaradeva Kalakshetra. Doctors said that he would be discharged from the hospital in a few days. Hazarika has been conferred with Asom Ratna, Padma Bhushan and Dada Saheb Phalke Award for his contribution to the world of art, culture and music.
