Lemon Tree Hotels hosts and conducts special workshop for Kashmiri girls under ''Op Sadbhavana'' of the Indian Army
Lemon Tree Hotels, a chain of upscale hotels and resorts today, joined hands with the Indian Army for their special campaign to win the hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir under the program Op Sadbhavana.
THE PROGRAM Op Sadbhavna is focussed at the youth and is an effort to integrate them with mainstream India. 29 Rashtriya Rifles is organising a tour exclusively for girls from the terrorism afflicted parts of the Valley and is a first-of-its-kind initiative by the Indian Army. Lemon Tree Hotels is organizing a special workshop for a group of thirty Kashmiri girls aged between 15-20 yrs. This workshop will focus on opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Founded in September 2002 by Patu Keswani, the New Delhi based company is one of India’s fastest growing hotel companies. Lemon Tree Hotels currently owns and operates 14 hotels in 11 cities aggregating over 1500 rooms with 1900 employees.

 
Six more hotels are currently under development. By December 2012, all ongoing projects will have over 2800 rooms and 3000 employees including Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Goa, Hyderabad, Indore, Kaushambi (East Delhi), Muhamma (Kerala), Mumbai, Pune and Shimla.

Patu Keswani received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1981. He subsequently received his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from IIM Kolkata in 1983.


Anticipating the enormous yet latent demand for mid-market and economy hotels in India, Patu promoted Lemon Tree Hotels in late 2002 and Red Fox Hotels in mid 2006. He is presently the Chairman and Managing Director of both companies. The group currently owns and operates 18 hotels across 14 cities pan India with over 2300 employees and a net worth of US$ 200 million.


An Initial Public Offering of Lemon Tree hotel is planned by mid 2013 when the group will own and operate 26 hotels with 4000 rooms in 16 major Indian cities with over 4500 direct employees. Operating profits of the group will be in excess of US$ 100 million by FY 2014-15.
