Of late a debate has been going on whether to retain the military character of the Republic Day parade or make it a carnival. In my opinion, the Military parade inspires youth.
THE 63rd Republic Day Parade that we saw on TV and heard a phalanx of commentators on many channels was A treat to the eyes and ears. The parade did showcase our military might, gave a glimpse of the cultural heritage passed on to the new generation in educational institutions and showcased economic plus technological growth that our Bharat has made.

The segments were well divided and there was no overlapping. Right at the beginning of the parade, an Ashok Chakra was awarded posthumously. It showed that the youth is patriotic and is prepared to die for a cause and the country. The brave son had shown gallantry of the highest order beyond the call of duty and the nation decorated him with Ashok Chakra, the highest gallantry award while fighting not in the face of the enemy.
The morale of the viewer is raised when he sees the Republic Day parade every year on 26th January. In the present age, when prices are soaring high, items of daily needs are not available at an affordable price it is the Republic Day parade that inspires him and her. The entire nation imbibes this spirit of patriotism, the correct amount of courage and the will to fight to finish. Our youth needs a source of inspiration-like what we saw on 26 January 2012. Please do not think of demilitarising the parade otherwise it would look lacklustre. The spectators would be bored and the children would refuse to go and see the parade.
