Let us bring down global warming together
There have been high level international meetings, fights between developed and developing nations, yet committees have not been set up to curb global warming. Little is happening on the ground including the initiative of the common man to fight it

OVER THE last five to seven years everyone seems to be complaining about global warming. Though, there have been high level international meetings, fights between developed and developing nations, yet committees have not  been set up to curb it. Little is happening on the ground including the initiative of the common man to fight it.

One of the easy ways to help reduce global warming, which any one of us can do is to plant a lot of trees.

Wildlife documentary film maker, Mike Pandey said in a TV interview that emission has increased so much in the past few years, that even trees are unable to absorb it. It certainly means that for trees to absorb more and more carbon emission we need more trees. With urban development taking place at an increasing pace, trees are being cut even at a more alarming rate. Since, it takes years to grow trees, the compensation for trees felled can be made by planting types of trees which grow faster.

Survival expert, Bear Grylls, who all of us have been watching on the show Man Vs Wild, said that temperature goes down by some 20 per cent under the shade of trees.

Not only this, shaded parking lots also keep the pavement, vehicles, and fuel tank cooler by reducing the amount of volatile organic compounds released into the atmosphere. A
California study by the Center for Urban Forest Research demonstrated that shaded parking lots were more than 30 degrees cooler and gas tank temperatures were 4 to 8 degrees cooler.

The number of air-conditions have also gone up, leaving unbearable heat outside. For the areas which have more ACs, it is necessary to have trees in enough numbers to let the trees bear the heat. Carbon dioxide can be permanently absorbed only by trees. Each of us planting a few trees around us takes very little effort and at the same time can be a solution. More than reducing it will help us face the increased warming.
