SOUTH KOREA based electronic giant LG is working on massive revamping technology to launch a cutting edge line of products by the next year in India. This new line of products will emphasis on reducing the power consumption by 20-30% and bring smart gadgets like internet-enabled TV.
Research and development work are in progress to roll out a health conscious refrigerator to burn calories and even a TV set that will help its owner to keep a check on weight gain. At the same time the company is working on an ambitious plan of reducing the manufacturing these gadgets at a 10% reduced cost. LG India is hopeful that this new move will help it to tap the potentialities of growing Indian market and revive its image as a world class brand. The necessary research and development task for this task is under way in the LG R&D Division of India, which is transforming into a major global hub. The LG Headquarter in Korea has already allocated the necessary funding to upgrade its R&D facility in India.
Currently there are 3000 engineers working in the R&D division of India and they are planning to recruit 2000 more engineers to accomplish the task within the scheduled period. Moreover the company is going to set up a 3rd manufacturing plant in Chennai, with an investment of whopping 1,500 crore.
