Libyan school education system revamped
The schools have re-opened in post-Gaddafi Libya with new curricula. The education system based on Gaddafi's queer philosophy and his Green Book has been done away with.

SCHOOLS IN Libya have started functioning for the new academic session with new instructional materials. During eight-month civil war in Libya to over throw Gaddafi left many schools damaged and their compounds laid with landmines.

Revamping school education was a pressing task for the Education Ministry after Gaddafi was killed. Gaddafi had used the school education system in his 42-year long rule for propagating his political thoughts and dominance. Distorted Libyan history was being taught in schools earlier.

According to the new political set-up in Libya, the new teaching-learning materials will provide students better education. The new textbooks have been printed in Tunisia and are being sent to school. It is believed that the new book will be able to create national awareness and fundamentals of democracy.

This augers well for not only Libya but also for the North African region, as education is key in bringing about a change in any society - especially in a country that has had little reforms in the society let alone in the education sector.
