Mumbai's one of the worst fears is coming alive again. The metropolis is facing a lot of troubles due to heavy rain fall. The flooded conditions have led to traffic jams and disturbed train services at several places
LIFE CAME to a standstill in many parts of Mumbai on Tuesday (July 14) due to heavy overnight rains, which lead to heavy water logging in several areas of the city. Train services were stopped on many sections and traffic movement was restricted as roads were inundated by water in low lying areas, including King's circle, Sion, Andheri Milan subway and Hind Mata.
River Mithi, which is known to cause havoc also crossed the danger mark of 2.7 metre ringing alarm bells. Authorities have alerted the Indian Navy and evacuation of residents of nearby areas has been started.
Heavy rainfall and flooded conditions led to traffic jams at several places and suburban trains services were stopped as rail tracks were inundated.
With meteorological officials predicting more such spells of heavy rains, it is likely that situation will worsen in the metropolis. Most affected areas due to water logging include Sewri, Wadala, Khar-Andheri subways, Juhu, Parel Deonar and other suburban areas.
Traffic in various parts of Mumbai was crawling and eyewitnesses said that long jams could be seen on busy intersections and highways.
