Bala Saheb Thackeray never allowed differences of ideology to hurt personal friendship, including even in Pakistan. This is why his popularity and charisma crossed even boundaries of the nation including in Pakistan when prominent Pakistanis including cricketer Javed Miandad prayed for his speedy recovery.
He was the only brave leader who never cared for vote-bank, and behaved similarly in public and private. He was perhaps the only leader who could share beer with his foes and friends alike in a fully friendly manner.
True homage to the family-head can be from Raj Thackeray and Udhav Thackeray by their being united to provide leadership following footsteps of the departed family-head.
Undoubtedly fanfare of Shiv Sena supremo established a world-record by having a record 2-million people attending his funeral-procession, further establishing him to be 'uncrowned king of the financial capital' of India, which could not move without his direction despite any party/ alliance being in power.
But like his contemporaries, he also adopted unholy Indian tradition of dynasty politics where he left his political legacy for his son Udhav Thackeray rather than the more deserving nephew Raj Thackeray. Differing political paths of two cousins were obviously seen during funeral procession of the political lion. However politically it was correct for Raj Thackeray not to go to Shiv Sena Bhawan with funeral procession to avoid any confusion amongst his own cadres.
It is evident that Raj Thackeray could only maintain supremacy of Shiv Sena as an organization and a political party in much better way like his uncle could do, rather than Udhav Thackeray.
