Live in relationship in Gurgaon goes sour: Former DC's son arrested
Live in relationships in India are looked down upon. Unfortunately, this would sound like stereotyping, but mostly the women in these relationships are more stigmatized than the men. The legalities of the matter has somewhat been sorted out, but mindsets are yet to open up and when such a relationship hit rock bottom.

While the minds are yet to open, but when it comes to legal procedure then the accused is held. The same happened when the son of Gurgaon's former deputy Commissioner was charged with rape of his live in partner. Ajay Bhardwaj was arrested from his Noida office under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code after his partner filed an FIR for raping her of over three years.

As was reported by timesofindia.com, the couple has a child and the accused used to threaten the girl with dire consequences when she asked him to marry her. Both of them used to live in Ardee city in Sector 43, Gurgaon. When they started having a relationship, Bhardwaj moved in with her and later both shifted to Noida.

Eventually, they had a child, but even then the man refused to marry her. The child out of wedlock was not the only problem, he slowly started behaving rudely with her and used to ignore her calls. While giving her statement, the women said, '' Bhardwaj often visited me. But gradually he started ignoring my calls. He used to behave rudely with me sometimes. When I pleaded with him to marry me as we have a child with him, he told me to stay away from his life and threatened me with dire consequences.''

Bhardwaj was produced before the city court and has been remanded for 14 days in judicial custody. The police says that the probe is going on.
