Live-in relationships have become an acceptable norm in modern society: SC
In an another historical verdict, the Supreme Court on Thursday said that live-in relationships have become an acceptable norm in the society. The Court further added that it can not be termed as an offense.

"In the present modern times live-in relationship has become an acceptable norm. It is not a crime," said the Apex court. The progressive remark was made by a bench comprising of Justices Dipak Mishra and Prafulla C Pant, while asking the administration, whether revealing a public figure's live-in relationship would be considered as defamation.

However, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi opposed it, saying that people should not look into the personal life of a public figure, as it serves no public interest.

While opposing the petition which seeks putting down of criminal defamation law, Rohatgi said that abolishing the law would bring anarchy in the society and stood against it.
