Liverpool still eyeing fourth spot
It is tough times ahead for Liverpool as the football club might not be placed on the top four in the EPL standings at the end of the season. A defeat today against Sunderland might end their hopes,..

THE EPL has moved into the business end in which Liverpool is lagging behind in the all important fourth spot race (Champions League Qualifying Spot). Liverpool is 7th on the EPL standings with 39 points. Arsenal is currently at 4th place with 49 points. Hence, Liverpool’s clash with Sunderland at the stadium of light later today will be an important one for the reds, who are eager to play in the Champions League next season.

Liverpool has all the players in its squad to demolish any team they want, but their finishing in front of goal has not been impressive at all. Players such as Suarez, Carroll, and Bellamy, have been giving their best. Still, their best has not been enough to edge out opponents. Their defensive line has been one of the best during the season. It is time to raise their game to another standard. Their last game against Arsenal was very important in the context of the league (fourth spot race), which they lost. Still, Liverpool is sure to fight till the end.

Sunderland are placed mid table, but they are just 5 points behind Liverpool. A victory for Sunderland would bring them closer to the top half of the table. They would be missing services of important players such as Lee Cattermole and Stephane Sessegnon, reported The Telegraph. Liverpool could use this to their advantage. But one can't count out Sunderland players such as Larsson, Gardner, Bendtner, Campbell. Liverpool also would be without D.Agger, who is injured.

Even a victory here might not help them in booking a place for the fourth spot, as the race for this spot is hotting up between Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool. The only advantage that Liverpool has over other teams is that they still have a game in hand.
