Though in the recent past some very senior police officers had been put behind bars because of having their links and giving undue favours to criminals but some forgetting their fate are still indulged in such activities.
A recent murder in Bishnah, Jammu had already exposed the police nexus with the Bovine smugglers which led to severe law and order problem in the town and when this correspondent tumbled deep into the affairs of the adjoining border police station was shocked to see the working style of Arnia police.
The incident is of 10th of this month when one Lucky Choudhary, a well-known criminal of the area (suspected to be the guy whose name surfaced in the Nagar Singh interrogation clip recently released on YouTube) stabbed two brothers identified as Ram Saran and Ashok Kumar both sons of Dewan Chand residents of Changia with sharp edged weapon who rushed to the police station to report the matter.
But the said criminal too rushed to the police station where according to sources police took both the parties to PHC Arnia for medical examination. The sources further added as the Lucky Choudhary is a hardcore criminal and having strong links within the police department convinced the Ayurvedic doctor to refer him to GMC with the opinion that he is having head injury and is bleeding profusely.
Accordingly, the police team took him away to shift to GMC but neither he reached GMC nor he is in police custody is a one part of the story.
The other part of the story is that the Ayurvedic doctor identified as Sakshi Gupta who referred Lucky Choudhary to GMC on the pretext of having Head Injury, forget to refer another victim, Ashok Kumar having same injuries and that too one inch deep cut. How fair was she and that too when she is not competent to do this.
But sources informed that she did all this on the behest of the police who was much interested to shift Lucky Choudhary to GMC.
This correspondent when contacted Chief Medical Officer, Jammu Baldev Sharma admitted that an Ayurvedic doctor is not competent to give opinions in MLC cases but refused to comment further advising to contact their Director.
The another blunder which the said Ayurvedic doctor made was that she on the same page wrote in hindi particularly to clear the word that the victim Ram Saran has been attacked by ‘Dharaat’ (a sharp edged weapon) but on the same she wrote that the injuries have been caused by some blunt object which legally changes the sections of the case.
Jammu Bulletin when contacted SHO Arnia, Inspector Arjun Singh Chib to verify the incident, first refused to comment saying that he does not have any knowledge of this case but after an hour he called back and said that Lucky Choudhary had gone to GMC on his own but when this correspondent contradicted him saying that a HC Baldev Singh, No 953-J was accompanying him backtracked from his statement and urged to hold as he will get back but after waiting for couple of hours, this correspondent went ahead with the story.
Similarly, JB when contacted SP HQ, Shailender Singh too refused to comment on the pretext that he does not have any knowledge of such matter but promised to look into the matter as now it has been brought into his notice.
The JB team when contacted SSP Jammu, Mr Anand Jain admitted that the incident had taken place but he said that Lucky Choudhary was not in the custody of the police. He said though he gave a slip to the police while shifting to GMC but refused to admit that he was in police custody. May be he is right technically.
The Jammu Bulletin team contacted various officials sources to seek clarification on the matter who said that it is the moral as well as the constitutional duty of the concerned police to shift the injured to hospital whether he is complainant or accused and further to ensure he did not escape from hospital incase he is accused.
Now the million dolor question which arises into the minds of the commoners is that how a man having severe head injury can give slip and that too from a police van just miles away from Arnia town? For your kind information dear officers, the public is intelligent enough to understand what you have managed for Lucky Choudhary.
Various official sources said that Lucky Choudhary is having a criminal background against whom various FIR’s had been registered at different police stations of the city and some even suspected him of having close relations with Nagar Singh and group.
It is also astonishing that the department which in the recent past had taken some laudable measure to curb corruption is now again indulging on the same pattern. The sources informed that police station Arnia and Bishnah follows the direction of the SP HQ for the reasons best known to these SHO’s, one of them has been suspended and the other is still obeying the orders of his master.
But it is also pertinent to mention here that the said SP is heading the inquiry initiated against the suspended SHO Inspector Satish Kumar.
It is the high time for the SSP Jammu and other higher police officials to wake up from deep slumber and control the situation before it gets worsen.
