Lok Adalat clears 148 cases in Malkangiri, Orissa
A total of 148 cases of different categories were disposed off in a district level Lok Adalat held on Monday at Mathili block headquarter. The Lok Adalat was organised by the District Legal Services Authority and proved to be a success.
A TOTAL of 148 cases of different categories were disposed off in a district level Lok Adalat held on Monday at Mathili block headquarter some 45 km from here. Organised by the District Legal Services Authority,the ‘Adalat’was presided over by Additional District & Session Judge and District Legal Services Authority Chairman Madhusudan Dhal.



Speaking on the occasion, Dhal said the purpose of the Special Lok Adalat is to provide a platform opportunity to every citizen irrespective of their economic or other disabilities. This would also help in bringing down the litigation rate and give speedy and prompt justice to the common man without involvement of any cumbersome administrative and legal procedures,he said.
 
While elaborating the role of Lok Adalat, Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate S.K.Rajguru said the goal is to secure justice to the weaker sections of the society, particularly to the poor, downtrodden, and socially backward, women, children and handicapped etc. Such steps are needed to be taken to ensure that nobody is deprived of an opportunity to seek justice merely for want of funds or lack of knowledge.

 
To ensure this, the Authority is organising Lok Adalats at various places just to provide justice to the needy at their door steps, he added. The ‘Adalat’ conducted by Civil Judge (Sr.Division ) and District Legal Services Authority Secretary, Kishore Chandra Mohapatra was attended by hundreds of litigants from interior pockets and other remote areas of Malkangiri and Mathili police limits.
 
S.D.J.M S.K.Rajguru and Special Judicial Magistrate Gayadhar Panigrahi together dispoded of 40 petty criminal cases in the Lok Adalat and an amount of Rs.7375/- was realized as fine.Similarrly,Mathili Tehsildar Romanchal Khambari settled 88 revenue cases and revenue to the tune of Rs.64,726.25 was collected.Besides,20 numbers of Bank cases were disposed of by the Pangam branch of SBI.
