THE LOK SABHA will discuss the Liberhan Commission report and action taken on it on December 7 and 8, under Rule 193, which does not entail voting. Earlier, the Business Advisory Committee had decided that the discussion would be held on December 9 and 10 but it has been advanced by two days as the Hindi version of the report was tabled in the House Thursday.
The debate on the report, tabled in Parliament on November 24, was to be held on December 1 but it was postponed after several members protested that the Hindi version was not available. Accordingly, the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram tabled the Hindi version of the report as well as the ATR in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
The Samajwadi Party leader Revati Raman Singh said many Hindi-speaking members still had not got the Hindi version of the report. He was joined by Mangni Lal Mandal of JD-U. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal promised to make these available.
