LONAVALA IS one of most famous tourists destinations around Mumbai and Pune. The lush green valley offers its visitors a beautiful combination of hills, points, valleys, huge plateaus and a lot more. Many people come and go everyday, visiting the same prominent places like any other tourist. But what many people don’t know about Lonavala is that this city also has several lesser known and fascinating tourists destinations.

In this article, I will tell you about the not-so-famous yet must visit spots of Lonavala.

The very first thing which you come across this place is its pleasant weather. I think the best time to go to Lonavala is in monsoons. The entire Lonavala brightens up and comes alive with its lush green valleys, surroundings and hills. Lonavala is out and out tourist destination, its major attractions being tiger hill, dam and Lonavala lake etc. These beautiful spots will leave you breathless.

Yet, the hidden beauty of the city can be revealed only after a chat with localites. One such place is the Karala caves, which are approximately eight kilometers from Lonavala. The cheapest mode of transport to reach this fabulous place is bus service, which will drop you in 10 minutes to the site. Or else you can also take an auto rickshaw, easily available in the city.

To reach these caves you have to climb up 400 stairs, which will take you to these humongous caves with carvings built by Askoka. The carvings on the walls of the caves and stupa build with huge and beautiful pillars inside the caves gives you a splendid experience. This cave is huge and has entries from various directions. The most amazing part is the stupa and the pillars is wooden holdings and wooden work. These caves give you unique experience to visit different place from normal hill views and points. Many tourists don’t know about these caves and therefore not many people come and see this marvel.

Once you are done with these caves you can visit Lonavala lake, which is supposedly the major tourist attraction and very prominently famous in Lonavala. But the sad part is that the chances of the lake being of full of water are very rare. Most of the times, there is a small stream of water in the name of a lake, which turns out to be most disappointing thing for the tourists. Many tourists went back dishearten after seeing such dried lake, but very few could notice the water falls right in front of the lake, which can very well be explored and enjoyed.

Especially, when you visit Lonavala in rainy season, many waterfalls are very prominent along roadside. You just have to park your vehicle and hit the fresh waterfalls with no one to interfere. These waterfalls also become major tourist attraction in Lonavala especially in this season.

One should always travel and think one step ahead of your capability to enjoy even more surprising and amazing things in life. According to me, the best journey is when you don’t decide your plan for your destination. Then you have the opportunity to explore the place on your own, which gives even more enjoyment and thrill.
