INSTITUTE OF Management Studies (IMS), Noida invited Prof. Mark Bickerton from London Metropolitan University as a guest to deliver lecture on the topic ‘Is 21st century Asian?'. While speaking on the topic, Prof. Bickerton said that India should improve its relations with its neighbouring countries as India’s economy depends entirely on its business and political relations with its neighbours. He further elaborated that China and India are pacing to become powerful nation. So, in this situation friendly relation based on the mutual interest of the two Asian countries will be beneficial for both.
International department of IMS organised this seminar to acquaint the students of management with global scenario. Professor Mark Bickerton is the director of recruitment and international development, London Metropolitan University. During the seminar he told the students about the predominance of European countries in the 19th century, leadership of America in 20th century and the powerful emergence of Asian countries in the 21st century. He also discussed about the hurdles that India may find in the process of becoming a super power.
Prof. Bickerton further said that the increasing inflation is a matter of concern for India. The growth rate of the Asian countries is commendable but it fades away with the increasing inflation which adversely affects the economic condition sand living standards of the local people. While expressing his ideas on education he suggested that online courses should be given much preference as everybody is not capable of going abroad for studies. The idea of expanding the international university exchange program should be made popular by disseminating the information through the social networking sites. Prof. Bickerton said that western countries have an impression that India is a very poor country. So, India must try to work on it to improve this age old image.
After the lecture The students of PGDM and MIB asked several questions from the Speaker. He answered all the questions one by one and concluded the program by remarking that intelligence level of the Indian students is very impressive.
