Lord Rama's example guides us on the path of noble deeds: President Mukherjee
President of India, Pranab Mukherjee greeted people on Ram Navami and stated in his message, "On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, I extend warm greetings and best wishes to all my fellow countrymen in India and abroad."

He added, "Lord Rama was an embodiment of great virtues and the highest values. May His example guide us on the path of noble deeds."

He wished, "May the celebrations of this joyous festival bring our people together and lead to a unity of hearts and minds. Let us on this day re-dedicate ourselves to the progress and prosperity of our motherland."

In Hindu religious texts and scriptures based on the incarnation and life story of Lord Rama, he is seen as a formative component of Hinduism.

In the Rama-centric sects and among his devotees or Rama Bhaktas, he is considered as the supreme being or Ishwar, rather than an Avatara.

"In all this world, I pray thee, who is virtuous, heroic, true," writes seer Valmiki, in his epic 'The Ramayana'.
