Lord's: Home of Cricket
One of the most famous cricket grounds in the world, Lord's is hosting a historical match between India and England. It is the 2000th international Test match and 100th Test match between India and England.

LORDS, ALSO referred as the ‘home of cricket’ is set to host the 2000th international Test match between England and India on July 21. It is apt for Lords to host such a historical match. The first Test match played in Lord's was between England and Australia on 21 July 1884.

The structure of the stadium is an appealing one, as it comprises of a splendid looking media box, which was built for the 1999 World Cup. It was totally made up of aluminium. The slopes near the boundary line have always been characteristic with lords. The pavilion at Lord's is primarily used by the members of Lord's, when they watch the match. It also consists of the players dressing room too.

Whenever one talks about great history of the game, Lord's features on the list. It was in Lord's that the West Indies team won their Cricket World Cup finals in 1975 and 1979. The ground  is very significant in Indian history too as it was in this ground where Kapil Dev led the Indian cricket team to the pinnacle of cricket, winning the World Cup in 1983. The memories of Kapil Dev running back to catch the misconnected pull shot by Vivian Richards remain afresh in the Indian cricket fans. There are many players who would remember Lord's quite vividly, like Sourav Ganguly, as he made his debut at Lord's with a century.

Graham Gooch always had a knack of scoring runs at Lord's. He holds the record for the most number of runs in Lord’s, with a total aggregate of 2015 runs. He also holds the record for the highest individual score of 333 runs against India in Lord's. Ian Botham has taken the maximum no of wickets at Lords, 69 wickets in total. India also holds one of the worst records in Lords where they were bundled out for a lowest team score in Lords for 42 runs in the year 1974.

There are great cricket stadiums across the world, such as Melbourne Cricket ground, Sydney Cricket ground, Eden gardens, etc, but as far as the rich tradition and history is concerned, none of these stadiums even comes close to it.
