HINDUS’ BOYCOTT call against Hollywood movie The Love Guru, for criticising Hinduism, has been very effective. This is evident from the film’s dismal show at the box office. This was announced by acclaimed Hindu leader Rajan Zed,.

Zed, the spearhead of the protest movement against the movement, which started in March, stated that although several factors were responsible for the movie’s failure, the boycott was one of the major factors. It may be noted that Zed issued a boycott call on Friday (June 20) after viewing. The Hindu leader said that many Hindus as well as non-Hindus in the US and Canada, where The Love Guru was released on June 20, have been boycotting the movie.

Reports are pouring in that various organisations including Hindu Alliance of India, Shri Ramayan Pracharini Sabha, India Heritage Panel, etc are planning protests in India and Australia when the movie releases there in the coming future. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has launched a worldwide protest drive. A Canadian Hindu group is also promoting the worldwide boycott.

An influential Jewish Rabbi, Elizabeth W Beyer of Nevada, has appealed for the boycott of movie because it "…lampoons Hinduism, mocks ashram life and Hindu philosophy…."

Rajan Zed termed it was as blatant ridiculing of Hinduism and a rich philosophical thought, and stressed that it should not be taken lightly. He expressed his gratitude to the American and the Canadian filmgoers for feeling the pain of their Hindu brethren by shunning The Love Guru.

A signature campaign launched against the movie by the Hindu groups has gone past 6400. Various leaders of Hindu, Catholic, Jewish, spiritual/religious, music, yoga, civil rights, etc, have supported the cause and issued statements expressing their solidarity with Zed’s cause.
