Love my wife but cannot stop serving my mother and motherland, says AAP's Somnath Bharti on domestic violence allegations
Courting controversy for the party, Somnath Bharti's wife Lipika Mitra has filed a domestic violence case against the AAP lawmaker with the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW). In her 26 long page of complaint, she has accused her husband of mentally and physically torturing her. Further in the statement, she has said, ''Me and my children are subject to continuous physical and mental torture by my husband. There is a persistent threat to life from my husband and his supporters. This has been going on since 2010.''

Sources close to Mitra has confirmed about the tumultuous nature of the relationship since the very beginning. The duo married in 2010 and from the beginning they were fighting about finances. Since Mitra works with a multinational company and earns good money and Bharti being a lawyer did not earn enough, he had to depend on her financially.

As was reported by, Mitra also mentions her husband's torturous way in her complaint. She has alleged that Bharti had set a dog on her when she was seven months pregnant. According to the complaint, Bharti do not take care of their children and at the time of the marriage had lied to her and said that he owned an 'international law firm.' She has said, ''I want a separation. I want out from this marriage and live with dignity with my children.''

The DCW had asked Somnath Bharti to appear before them on 26 June. The lawmaker is currently in Kerela for party work said that he is 'shocked' and is 'deeply pained. He even went on Twitter and tweeted,

Apparently, Lipika Mitra did not want to live her mother-in-law and was also not okay with him being in politics.The rift widened between the couple when Mitra evicted her mother-in-law from the house. It is also alleged that the couple has been living apart for the last three years. Learning of his wife's public statement, Bharti further tweeted,

AAP when asked about the issue said that it was a 'personal matter.' Bharti was the law minister of the party during their 49 days government in 2014. He is the AAP legislator from malviya Nagar, Delhi.

Tweetaratis are reacting on the matter. Some are supporting the wife, while others are saying that it is a controversy against the man and his party.
