A FREE medical, paramedical and physiotherapy camp was organised by the Community Service cell of Lovely Professional University at a nearby village Maheru. The NSS volunteer students have assisted the medical team of the University.

More than 100 patients were medically examined. They were also distributed medicines free of cost. Further referral consultation was provided in one or two cases with serious ailments. Also, blood investigation of 13 patients was done and 22 patients were given physiotherapy treatment for knee, low back, cervical, shoulder and joint pains.

On this occasion, the Pro-Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Ms Rashmi Mittal, informed that in order to perform well towards humanity and fulfill the social responsibility: "This Free Medical, Para-Medical and Physiotherapy Camp were organized by a team of doctors and paramedical Staff from Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Hospital of the University."

She further added, “It was to help the needy villagers who cannot afford to go to the hospitals for one or the other reason. Moreover, it was a door-step service, solely to take care of their health." She accorded her thanks to those villagers who provided space for organization of the camp and assisted in this great noble cause.

It is illustrative that the medical staff of the department of physiotherapy checked, treated and extensively sensitized the villagers on physical health conditions so that they may not suffer unnecessarily. They also suggested them strength boosting exercises and guided how to get relieved of deformities and muscular weakness, in the very early stages of the problems. The NSS Volunteers guided the villagers to keep their surroundings neat and clean to maintain proper hygienic conditions.

Two of the treated patients, Ms Jagir Kaur and Ms Ram Piari said in their native language "The camp has helped us a lot. We were unable to go to the far off hospitals. Our male members were helpless as they go out for their works early in the morning only to return in the evening. This service by the university team is indeed a great service, especially towards the old people like us. May God bless all of them!"
