LPU commemorates national heros on Republic Day
The show which was organized by the Education and the Physical Education department portrayed unity in diversity, various dances depicting different cultures of the country were presented by the students.
TO COMMEMORATE the day of our constitution coming into force, Lovely Professional University celebrated Republic Day in its campus. The show which was organized by the Education and the Physical Education department observed fervent participation by students and teachers at LPU. To portray unity in diversity, various dances depicting different cultures of the country were presented by the students. The programme began with the Flag Hoisting ceremony and a speech by Ashok Mittal, Chancellor Lovely Professional University. He was accompanied by other academicians like Dr. Vijay Gupta, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Lovi Raj, Dean, Dr. Bawa, Dean Education and Physical Education Department, Dr. Monica Gulati, Dean Pharmacy Department.
After the flag hoisting, a march past which was participated by students of the Physical Education Department and the security officers in the campus took place. Hook dance, Bhangra, Rajasthani Dance, a performance on patriotic dance Desh Mera Rangeela, aerobics, yoga and a one act play based on the sacrifices made by the great leaders were the other attractions.
Delighted with effort put in by the students of the Education and the Physical Education Department, Ashok Mittal, Chancellor LPU, also announced the plans to open a sports academy for the students in Punjab. “This academy shall help those students who are bright but do not get the required guidance and support in terms of practice material and infrastructure,” he said.
The event ended with note of thanks by Vijay Gupta, Vice Chancellor, LPU. “It is a great honor to be a part of such a programme. Through the various shows the students at LPU has truly proved ‘Patriotism’ the essence of day,” he said.
