Luxembourg celebrates Diwali on October 29
xThe festival of lights is celebrated all around the globe. Different places have different ways in which they celebrate the triumph of good over evil.

LUXEMBOURG, ALTHOUGH small, yet it is one of the wealthiest countries of the world. A place that has 87 percent population of Roman Catholic is reportedly also celebrating Hindu festival Diwali. 

To be held on October 29, this few hours long Diwali event will reportedly include live dance, singing, dhol percussion, etc. Performances at the Centre Sociétaire et Culturel an der Eech Leudelange would be enjoyed by the Hindus of Luxembourg. Indian food will be served at this “colourful and vibrant soirée”, for which tickets cost up to 40 Euros. 
Most popular of Hindu festivals Diwali, the festival of lights, aims at dispelling the darkness and lighting up the lives and symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Diwali falls on October 26 this year but in Luxdemberg this would be celebrated on October 29.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, applauded Diwali festival organizers for keeping the faith and tradition alive. It was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society, Zed stressed. 

Another Diwali event was also reportedly held on October 22, which included Bollywood style dancing, tombola, Indian cuisine, etc. There are about few hundred India-descent people in Luxembourg, which has an Indian Association (since 1991) and Indian Business Chamber. Organizing events and celebrating festivals is a nice way of telling people about Indian tradition and culture.

A fairy-tale stuff country with the motto “We want to remain what we are”, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is trilingual (German, French and Luxembourgish) consisting of an army of only 800 and traces going back to 10th century.
