Lynn Redgrave, Oscar nominated actress dies from cancer
Film and stage star Lynn Redgrave, 67, 'passed away late last night at her home in New York. Lynn Redgrave funeral is expected to be held later this week. Lynn Redgrave was nominated for two Academy Awards twice.

LYNN REDGRAVE, Oscar-nominated actress has died following her long seven-year battle with breast cancer on Sunday May 2. Film and stage star Lynn Redgrave, 67, "passed away late last night at her home in New York. Lynn Redgrave funeral is expected to be held later this week. Redgrave was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2002, and was first treated for breast cancer in 2003.


Lynn Redgrave was nominated for two Academy Awards, first in 1967 for best actress in Georgy Girl and again in 1999 for best supporting actress in Gods and Monsters and a Golden Globe Award. Actress Redgrave's appeared on stage last time in 2009 at Manhattan Theatre Club in New York in the play Nightingale. However, Lynn Redgrave debuted professionally on stage in a London production of "A Midsummer's Night Dream in 1962.

Actress Redgrave has recently appeared in TV shows including Ugly Betty, Law & Order and Desperate Housewives. She acknowledged that she suffered from bulimia and served as a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers. Redgrave was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2001. She also appeared in a long-running series of television commercials for Heinz Foods.

Lynn Redgrave was the third member of the Redgrave acting dynasty. She was born in London, England, the daughter of actors Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson. Her sister is Vanessa Redgrave; her brother was Corin Redgrave. Lyan Redgrave was survived by her children, six grandchildren, her sister Vanessa and four nieces and nephews.
